Amber
Amber is a fossilized tree resin that has been appreciated for its color and natural beauty since Neolithic times. Vikings believed it to be the tears of Freyja, their goddess of love and beauty. It has a warm, wise energy, soothing energy and has been thought to balance emotions, eliminate fear, and dissove negative energy, while promoting courage and self-confidence.


Amethyst
February birthstone. Amethyst is a variety of quartz that usually grows on the inside of agate geodes. Due to its purple color, it has historically been associated with wealth and power. Leonardo Da Vinci once wrote that amethyst holds the power to dissipate evil thoughts and quicken one's intelligence. It is also a symbol of peace and unification.


Aquamarine
March birthstone. Aquamarine, meaning "sea water," was considered to be the treasure of the mermaids, and would protect those at sea. This gemstone represents happiness, hope, and everlasting youth, and brings a soothing effect to those who wear it.


Carnelian
Zodiac birthstone for Virgo. Carnelian was believed by ancient Romans to be a stone of courage and strength, and was often placed on Egymption mummies to assiste the dead in thrir journey to the afterlife. This gemstone is thought to enhance self-esteem and cretivity, and is associated with the solar plexus chakra.


Emerald
May birthstone & Cancer zodiac. Emerald means "spring green" in Sanskrit, and represents fertility and rebirth. The color encourages calming and balance, while promoting creativity and optimism.


Garnet
January birthstone. Garnet gets is name from the Latin word for pomegranate, due to its deep glossy red color. Historically, garnets were used to denote royalty & for protection. The stone symbolizes a quick return to a separated love, fertility, and feminine life force.


Jade
As the West views diamond, the East views jade. In Mesoamerica, it was a rare stone used only for the highest elites. Jade is thought to bring deep peace, balance, and strength, as well as physical and emotional well-being.


Jet
Jet is derived from decaying wood that is fossilized under extreme pressure and heat. Zodiac birthstone for Capricorn. The ancient Romans believe Jet to be a magical stone that offered good luck & protection. In Victorian times, it was used in mourning jewelry.


Lapis Lazuli
One of the oldest gemstones in history, Lapis Lazuli was referenced in the Bible and addorned King Tut's death mask. Ground, it was used by Cleopatra as eyeshadow, and by painters in the Middle Ages as a deep blue pigment. June birthstone. A milky white color with hints of iridescent "flash", the moonstone has been used in jewelry throughout history. Romans believed moonstone was from solidified rays of the moon, and the Greeks associated it with their lunar gods. Called a "visionary's stone" because it helps one see things more clearly, while stabilizing emotions, and promoting serene & tranquil energy. Moonstone is a stone for new beginnings, inner growth, and strength. Like the moon itself, the gemstone represents the divine feminine, and reminds us that our lives ebb & flow.


Mother of Pearl
June birthstone, in lieu of pearl. Zodiac birthstone of Pisces. Mother-of-pearl is the iridescent layer that forms in pearl-producing mollusks all over the world, in both fresh and saltwater. Valued by the ancient Egyptians for adornment and in East Asia for religious art, mother-of-pear was also very popular during the Victorian era to inlay into valuable items. Mother-of-pearl is thought to bring prosperity, while representing purity and youthfulness. It is also said to provide motherly protection and soothing abilities.

It has been found in galaxy-traveling meteorites, and it is now believed that peridot crystal played a large role in the creation of the moon, and now comprise a large portion of the moon's mantle! Quartz Crystal
April birthstone, in lieu of diamond. A calm and soothing stone, known as the "universal crystal" because of its many uses and benefits for manifesting, healing, meditation, & protection. Snow quartz represents innocense and child-like perspective. Some believe this version of quartz also aids in lactation in new mothers. Associated with the crown chakra.

Jasper comes from the Greek word "spotted stone", and comes in many different varieties. In all its forms, Jasper is considered a powerful healing stone, giving a sense of well-being, and protection. Rose Quartz
Rose quartz is the stone of love, the heart, and beauty, back to ancient Roman times, beginning with the Greek myth about Aphrodite and Adonis. Rose quartz is thought to have calming effects and helps people develop strong friendships. Associated with the heart chakra.


Ruby
July birthstone. Ruby is known as the "gemstone of nobles," and in ancient times were used to predict the future. Believed to promote loving, nurturing, health, knowledge and wealth. Associated with energy, concentration, loyalty, honor, and compassion, Ruby gives protection & spiritual wisdom, while stimulating the heart chakra.


Sapphire
September birthstone. Since medieval times, sapphire has been associated with the majesty and tranquility of the heavens, and was therefore worn by clergy, as well as kings and queens to attract wealth and protection. Thought to bring peace and ward off illness. Associated with the throat and brow chakras, sapphire is believed to focus and calm the mind.


Sunstone
Associated with the radiance of the sun and the energy it produces to sustain life. A stone of leadership, it encourages the wearer to be open and benevolent. Associated with the base and sacral chakras, sunstone is believed to inspire good nature and enjoyment of life.


Tanzanite
December birthstone. Only discovered 50 years ago, and more rare than diamonds, Tanzanite is only found in the East African state of Tanzania in a volcanic basin called Merlani, at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro. Because of its rarity, it is associated with elegance and indulgence. Tanzanite is believed to stimulate intuition and perception, as well as giving a calming and soothing presence.


Tigereye
As hypnotic as the eye of the tiger, Tigerye, or "tiger's eye stone," promotes clear-eyed vision, helping us see ourselves and the world better. It is said to combine earth energy with sun energy, creating an intense stone that's also well-grounded, enhancing psychic and empathic energies.


Yellow Topaz
November birthstone. The Ancient Egyptians believed the sun god, Ra, created topaz's beautiful yellow hues, and the Europeans saw topaz as a symbol of status and wealth, believing it had the mystical ability to attract gold. A symbol of harmony and balance, yellow topaz strenghthens faith and optimism. Associated with the solar plexus and third eye chakras.


Pink Tourmaline
October birthstone. Prized as a gem through history, it was especially beloved in China. The last Empress of the Ch'ing Dynasty, Tzu Hsi, was so passionate about the stone that she bought huge quantities of it, and it was used mainly in carvings, and buttons worn my the Imperial Court, an dthe wealthy. A stone of love, compassion, emotional healing and self love, tourmaline is also used to promote artistic and creative expression, and dispel fera and grief.
